MEET THE METS!

Wayne's sister, Judy, and I used to go down to Shea Stadium quite a bit, and got to see some really good games (as well as plenty of stinkers.) We bought various ticket packages each year, and we were also able to get tickets to one of the NLCS games in 2000. We were at Bobby Jones's 1-hitter against the SF Giants--very exciting!

Another earlier game that I was fortunate enough to attend was the one wherein Doc Gooden set the rookie strikeout record--amazing, exhilarating game! For Doc Gooden fans, here's a link to his rookie debut. Enjoy!

Okay, these pictures range from about 2000 through 2005, but I hope that NY Mets fans enjoy them anyway.

Troll Alert, I have some much better ones that are not yet scanned and filed. A couple of the above photos are from 9/22/01, the second game after Shea Stadium reopened after 9/11. (Shea was one of the local staging areas for work at Ground Zero.) Everyone was patriotic that night. The huge "God Bless America" banner was a gift from the Pittsburgh Pirates fans, with thousands of handwritten good wishes, blessings, comments, etc. Wayne, his sister and I added our own comments. And, if you can make it out in the picture of the scoreboard, the NY skyline on the top of it has a red, white and blue ribbon in place of the Towers.
It was all very stirring and emotional; it also gave rise to the tradition of singing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch (which personally irks me no end.)

BTW, Exley did see them, but has not yet confessed to swooning. :-)

Jane:

Speaking about photography; can I assume these pictures were taken with film?
If so, how do you scan them to digital?
With an all in one copier, or with a scanning machine?
Just curious.

Troll Alert, since I don't have a digital camera yet, for several years I've gotten both prints and a CD (along with the negatives, of course), so that I can download them. If I don't have a CD, I can have other photos scanned at the office and sent to either of my email addresses. We do have a scanner somewhere in the house, but right now I don't have a clue as to where it is. But one of my major projects will start with going through several large bins of photos, downloading any CDs, and picking out other good photos to be scanned. I'm a total amateur, but I do have some good stuff on a variety of subjects that I hope to eventually get up here.
